New to telnet...can this be used to execute "shutdown /r" on a remote PC? I try connecting via hercules, but get allot of jiberish...and it disconnects after asking for login. What's the login?

I don't know the specifics of your setup but it works for me. I can shutdown or reboot if the user I login as has permission.
You could also try shutdown -m \\computername in XP to remotely shutdown a computer. See the following link for the W2k version:
